This Data Use and Privacy Policy is applicable to Designer Buddies Inc. (“Company”) also known as DesignerBuddies.ca, and sets our policy on the gathering and use of information on this site and our site in the making (the Site), and also for any of our surveys and questionnaires.
This Data Use and Privacy Policy is an agreement between you and DesignerBuddies.ca (also known as Designer Buddies Inc. or “Company”) regarding the collection, storage, use and disclosure of your Personal Information. You consent to the terms of this Data Use and Privacy Policy when you use our Sites and voluntarily provide your personal information to create an account and a profile and sign up to join and use our services. You thereby consent to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of your Personal Information in accordance with the terms of this Data Use and Privacy Policy.
As an online venue that connects home owners and design service providers with each other, the information that you voluntarily submit to us, will be posted on our interactive DesignerBuddies.ca site when we launch (the Site), and this information may be shared with and used by other users and Site visitors. By filling out a profile or survey and submitting it, you are agreeing to have your profile posted on our Site when we launch and thereby, shared to our other Site users. By providing your information to us and creating a profile, you are agreeing to this. If you do not want your information used in this way, then please do not submit it to us.
We use the Personal Information we collect about you in order to provide Services to Registered Users and Site visitors, and to improve our Site and Services. We will not share or post your contact details or personal names and emails, but your design profile and your design services, or your design job description and all the details you give there including photos, will be posted and shared to our website users and members when we launch. So by giving your contact details, and using our site, you are agreeing to our Privacy Policy, and in order to offer you jobs, or find you a designer, or to improve our services to you, we may need to contact you. When you provide the information and submit it to us, it is to this use of your personal information you are agreeing.
If you are a Design Services Provider, or a Homeowner looking for design help, we collect and store all of the additional information that you provide to us in your profile. This may include, among other information: details on the type of design help you offer, including your style preferences and photos of your work that you provide, your availability, your location, your education, your specializations, expected wages and charges, your ability to drive; related services you provide; pictures and descriptions; references, if you choose to provide them; any other information you choose to include in your profile. By providing this information, you should know that it will be posted on our website when we launch, and Site users will be able to view it. See further details below.
When submitting/posting a job description
If you are a Homeowner, we collect and store all of the additional information that you provide to us on your job posting. This may include, among other information: the type of help you are looking for, schedule, location, hourly rate, narrative job description, requirements for a Design Provider (such as ability to drive); pictures; and any other information you choose to include in your job posting.
When submitting/posting a design services profile
If you are a Design Service Provider, we collect and store all of the additional information that you provide to us in your profile. This may include, among other information: details on the services you offer, including style preferences, specializations, availability, your location, education or awards, languages, your ability to drive; related services you provide; specialties, pictures; references, if you choose to provide them; any other information you choose to include in your profile.
A few weeks prior to our launch date, we will inform you of the date we will go live with our interactive Site, and this will also be the date your profile will be posted on our website. In order to do this, we will need to contact you by email. By submitting to us now, it means that you agree to us contacting you for this reason, and also you agree to us posting your profile when we do launch (in a few months). By submitting your information to us now, you are agreeing to this use of your personal and profile information.
We will inform you of our launch date and you can, of course cancel this agreement at any time before we launch by emailing us, and we will remove the contents of your profile from our Site. Also, once we launch, you can also log onto our interactive Site and terminate your profile and your account.
The Company will not disclose personal information that you provide on its Sites to any third parties other than to a Company agent except: i) in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy, or ii) to comply with legal requirements such as a law, regulation, warrant, subpoena or court order, and/or iii) if you are reporting an adverse event/side effect, in which case the Company may be required to disclose such information to bodies such as, but not limited to, Canadian and/or international regulatory authorities. Please note that any of these disclosures may involve the storage or processing of personal information outside of Canada and may therefore be subject to different privacy laws than those applicable in Canada, including laws that require the disclosure of personal information to governmental authorities under circumstances that are different than those that apply in Canada.
